“As the VIAC ambassador for Ireland, I intend to assist in strengthening the institution’s ties to Ireland and fostering new relationships. VIAC's long history of serving as a hub for international disputes makes it the perfect institution for Irish businesses conducting business across Europe. I look forward to working with Irish businesses and law firms to demonstrate the range of opportunities that dispute settlement conducted through VIAC has to offer.”
Sam is an Irish solicitor practicing in CERHA HEMPEL’s arbitration team out of Vienna. Sam studied law in Dublin and completed his training contract with Matheson LLP. In Vienna, Sam represents clients in complex, cross-border investment and commercial arbitration cases, with a focus on energy and engineering disputes. Sam further acts as arbitrator in arbitration disputes and has extensive experience with arbitrations conducted under a variety of institutional rules.
As a practitioner, Sam is a pragmatic and detail-oriented lawyer with a keen understanding of the strategic complexities of international arbitration. It is this same approach Sam intends to bring to his role as VIAC Ambassador to Ireland.
