"At a time of constant transformation and change, bringing historical challenges and opportunities, it is more important than ever to remain true to the values and integrity that bind us all as human beings. In the field of international arbitration, VIAC fosters those exact principles, as a reliable forum for dispute resolution, but also a catalyst for international exchange and collaboration.

Perhaps most importantly in the context of global dynamics, VIAC is attentive to the needs and voices of its users, and does not shy away from change, but leading the way for important initiatives. As the Western Balkans are becoming more attractive for foreign investments, and a cohort of impressive arbitration practitioners is emerging in the region, VIAC is an important lynchpin connecting international best practices and regional dispute resolution, to enhance the positive transformations ahead.

For this and many other reasons I am excited to be a part of this story as VIAC CAN ambassador for Bosnia and Herzegovina, joining a cohort of regional thought leaders, leading practitioners and dear colleagues. I look forward to the meaningful work ahead."

Fahira Brodlija is the Rule of Law Advisor for a regional GIZ legal reform project focusing on the legal framework for investment protection and investor-state dispute settlement in the Western Balkans. Her work includes advisory support for the governments in the Western Balkans and abroad on the procedural and substantive provisions of (model) investment treatises, support in designing and developing dispute prevention and management mechanisms, and capacity development, including practical training and simulations.

Fahira is an adjunct lecturer at the International University of Sarajevo, where she initiated the Annual IUS Summer School in international arbitration, taking place since 2021. She frequently writes and speaks on topics related to ISDS reform, investment law and international dispute resolution more broadly.

Fahira is a tutor for the CiArb Diploma program, and appeared as guest lecturer at esteemed universities, such as Columbia University in New York, Bocconi University in Italy and College of Law, Chrisland University in Nigeria. She is also a lecturer for the Africa Arbitration Academy program.
