Dimitris Babiniotis

"VIAC has established itself as a leading arbitral institution, offering efficient, neutral, and high-quality dispute resolution services. For Greek arbitral practice, ensuring the integrity of arbitral proceedings and their seamless interaction with state courts is essential to fostering trust in international dispute resolution. As VIAC CAN’s Ambassador in Greece, I aim to strengthen VIAC’s presence, promote its role, raise awareness of its benefits and foster collaboration among VIAC CAN’s members, contributing to the continued growth and trust in arbitration altogether as a preferred mechanism for resolving cross-border disputes"

Dimitris heads the Dispute Resolution practice of Zepos & Yannopoulos Law Firm, one of Greece’s leading law firms. He has acted as counsel or lead counsel in high-stakes arbitrations across major industries, including construction, infrastructure, energy, and financial services. He also has extensive experience representing corporate clients in arbitrations against the Greek State and state-owned enterprises, particularly in public contract disputes. Being an expert in appellate proceedings and cassation litigation, Dimitris is regularly instructed by clients across various sectors, to deal with the highly sophisticated procedural issues involved in proceedings before the Courts of Appeal and the Supreme Court. He is also particularly recognized for his arbitration-related litigation expertise, having successfully handled numerous annulment, recognition and enforcement proceedings before Greek courts, as well as cases compelling arbitration when litigation was improperly initiated. His deep knowledge and strategic approach make him a trusted advisor in high-profile disputes.

Alongside his legal practice, Dimitris is an Associate Professor of Civil Procedure at the Law School of the Democritus University of Thrace, where he teaches arbitration and civil procedure at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Dimitris is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court. He holds a PhD from the Democritus University of Thrace, an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, and an LL.B. from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
